Writer, speaker, educator, and CEO, Lorraine combines 17 years of practical business experience with a passion for, and specialism in, supporting children and young people to develop enterprising, can-do skills and mindset.
She works with organisations both in the UK and abroad to develop toolkits for nurturing an enterprising, can-do characters and skills in children and young people., including a long term commitment with the Women and Work Foundation developing and rolling out an Enterprising and Life Skills programme for young learners in South Africa, and with the Family Academy in UAE (Abu Dhabi) developing and delivering an accredited programme for parent educators.
Lorraine collaborates with UK and International parenting, child development, and early years experts, speaks at a wide variety of events, with her work and insights featured across national media and on digital platforms, newspapers, parenting and educational magazines.
Lorraine is an honorary lifetime member of, and expert adviser to, the Board of the National Early Years Trainers and Consultants Organisation (NEyTCO) and Chair of the judging panel for the Fiver competition run across UK primary schools by Young Enterprise. She also enjoys visiting and speaking to pupils in schools and universities as a Role Model for Big Ideas Wales - part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s flagship Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy.
In her spare time Lorraine leads a primary school film club for children aged 7-10 years who in 2014 won a national award for their documentary A Sense of Place celebrating the life of Dylan Thomas, and in 2017 shortlisted from thousands to just three clubs for UK Into Film Club of the Year, Under 12s.
Last, but definitely not least, Lorraine is Mum to the youngest successful Crowdfunder in the UK and the UK’s first young ambassador for Crowdfunding 10 year old Dylan, who has just published his second international recipe book raising money for Action Against Hunger.
Lorraine’s years of experience combined with a passion for nurturing enterprising children has led her to speak at a wide variety of events across the UK delivering key notes, workshops, and ‘in conversation with’ sessions. These include The Education Show @ Birmingham NEC, Mums Show Live @ Alexandra Palace, The national Fiver Awards Ceremony @ Ham Yard Hotel, and The Royal Geographical Society, Kensington (National Crowdfunding Day). She recently delivered a number of fun, interactive enterprising play sessions with children on the main stage at Toytopia, Liverpool.
Her work and insights have been featured in national media (newspapers and radio) including Daily Express, Daily Mail, Independent, The Sun, London Evening Standard, Channel 5, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Sheffield, and Forbes, as well as digital platforms nationally and internationally including Working Mums, Time and Leisure, This is Money, Quibly, Regus Connect.
